Ray Lamontagne Saint Paul Concert reviews
Room for improvement
We have not been to the Johnny Mercer Theater for several years but have been to Ticketmaster shows...we were disappointed to find that entrance is now only on the parking lot side. Of the 3 metal detectors set up only 1 was functional when we arrived so the lines greatly backed up. Then there were issues with the ticket scanners causing further delays. The concession staff was friendly and helpful. 37 minutes into the show the main floor women's bathroom already had stalls with no toilet paper! The theater itself is in desperate need of updating....if drinks are allowed inside it would be nice to have cupholders as we lost a drink within the 1st 10 mins. The artist was awesome, but the sound volume as he spoke to the crowd in between songs was so soft much of it was not heard.
The best ever
The venue is cosy, intimate and really classy. Ray LaMontagne simply has the best voice ever. If you want to hear an artist raw and simply doing what they do best, then a Ray LaMontagne concert is the answer. This is not a get up dancing and punch the air concert....this is appreciation of an artist who has a clear gift and a voice to die for. We loved the first night at the Beacon theatre so much, we bought tickets for the second night the next morning. Ray LaMontagne is quite simply the best and we did not think he
could sound any better, but the feeling he puts in to his live performance is outstanding and how can you not appreciate a voice like Rays. We traveled from England to New York just for the concert, and his performance made this the best trip ever and worth every single penny!!
